My friends bought some hot rolls here before our search for the Highland Coos. After the sighting, we descended from the same trail and ended up having late lunch together in the outdoor area of the brasserie in the sun. Food was lovely. I had kedgeree (fillet of smoked haddock, rice and soft-boiled Swanston Farm egg) and a pint of orange juice and lemonade. Good selection of hot food on their menu in general.

A Perfect Meal at Swanston Brasserie Swanston Brasserie offers a rare combination of tranquillity and convenience, just five miles from Edinburgh’s city centre yet high in the hills, providing stunning views and a peaceful escape. From the moment we arrived, Wylie, the manager, made us feel incredibly welcome, showing us the warmth and kindness the Scots are known for. His recommendations were spot on—I had the fish and chips, light and non-greasy, paired beautifully with an unoaked Chardonnay, while my partner enjoyed the hearty beef pie, perfectly complemented by a rich red wine. After our meal, Wylie even took the time to show us around, pointing out the best spots to watch the Scottish cows grazing—a charming touch that made the experience even more special. With its breathtaking location, exceptional food, and outstanding hospitality, Swanston Brasserie is a true gem. We’ll certainly be back!

We had two veggie pizzas, which were both very tasty and clearly freshly made. Due to a small error that we didn't mind, one of the pizzas was slightly delayed, but the staff was almost too thoughtful in compensating and showed the extents of their hospitality. The atmosphere is good and the dining hall has a nice view. Would recommend!

One of my favourites in town. - food is really good. Fresh, tasty and typical Scottish food. Scones are very good. - prices are ok for Edinburgh - suitable for family, friends and nice for weekends - booking recommended - they have some highland cows near there, which are really cute - area is very beautiful for a walk and spend a day walking around.

We ordered steaks followed by two luxury hot chocolates & a raspberry coconut scone. Steak was medium well, exactly how i like it, with crispy warm fries, & a fresh salad. Hot chocolate was full of mini marshmallows, & the scone was especially delicious! They were quite busy but the service was quick and excellent. With outdoor views, friendly staff, & great food, this place is a must visit.
